Noise for Noise
Noise pollution, unwanted or excessive sound that can have deleterious effects on human health and environmental quality. Exposure to prolonged or excessive noise has been shown to cause a range of health problems ranging from stress, poor concentration, productivity losses in the workplace, and communication difficulties and fatigue from lack of sleep, to more serious issues such as cardiovascular disease, cognitive impairment, tinnitus and hearing loss.

White Noise is one of the finest forms of sound source to make you ease, de-stress you and help to relax. White noise can help you to go deeper in meditation and an effective platform for your sound sleep. It improves your mental cognition, greater mind clarity and peaceful relaxation. It has so many therapeutic benefits.

During the first part of the workshop we’ll listen to white noise and potentially some other coloured noise. We’ll build simple white noise generators, and see how we can interact with these. By the end of day one a task will be set to think of ways how we can use white noise to create a distressing environment for people that are exposed to noise pollution. This can be a video, installation or a performance, made by one or two groups.

Second day starts with individual presentations of ideas that people have come up with, followed by a group discussion to choose which project is best suitable to be carried on with. Plan will be made to finish the project

that day to be presented publicly.
