Sketching with coco is an explorative album, a conversation between the composer and the instrument through which both come closer to one another. The cocoquantus was a new instrument acquired during the pandemic, a special connection between the artist and the instrument was there from the first minute. The cocoquantus is a magical instrument that keeps surprising and challenges it’s player in a very intuitive way.

The album was recorded during the pandemic years, all songs are live recordings and unedited. The recordings were originally not intended to be released, merely to be archived. Because of this during the recording of these tracks there was a sense of freedom to experiment and explore the instrument, its loops and controlled chaos. When listening through these recordings there seemed to be something interesting developing which lead to the decision to release a selection on this album.

The album was released on the brithday of my youngest son. Apart from a digital release the album also came out on cassete which I felt really suited the sound of the album. An inital series of 50 have been produced, together with a little bit of merchandising containing stcikers and t-shrts.

Special thanks to Jesse, Barney and Carina for being part of the selection process, Susan and Agata for giving feedback on the music video.
